Jamberoo is a delightful little village full of history, surrounded by emerald green pastures and set against the forested cliffs of the escarpment. Minnamurra Rainforest and Barren Grounds Bird Observatory and Nature Reserve, two of the State's natural treasures, are both close to Jamberoo. To the west is Budderoo National Park, another wild jewel.

The town is also within easy reach of the surf beaches around Kiama. Established in 1820, Jamberoo's original role was to harvest the rich cedar forests that built much of colonial Sydney, by the 1830s it was a thriving village at the centre of a rich dairy area, but it was bypassed by both the railway and the highway, and this slowed its development.
